Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa in his usual benevolent nature has handed former Nigeria international Kingsley Obiekwu the sum of 2 million naira (two million naira) after the Olympic gold medallist was spotted at the Abakpa Motor Park Enugu using his personal car for public transportation.

Obiekwu who is a Member of the Order of Niger (MON) was part of Nigeria’s Atlanta ’96 gold winning football team that became Africa’s first gold medal winners in the football tournament of the Olympics.

Obiekwu who was affectionately called Shagari after Nigeria’s former President Shehu Shagari during his active days in the game is a coach of an amateur side based in Enugu INGAS FC but opted to use his Sienna car for public transport as his former club is said to be owing him a backlog of salaries totalling the sum of N6m (six million naira).

Obiekwu in an interview with The News Agency of Nigeria in Awka confirmed his involvement in public transportation as revealed by a Facebook user on Tuesday who identified the former Rangers international and Udoji United defender at the Motor park.

“Yes, I am a commercial transporter; there is nothing to hide about it. Man has to do what is legal to pay his family bills.

“I have four children at Enugu State University of Technology and my last child is in primary five,” ‘Shagari’ told NAN.

Eagles captain Musa has a long history of kindness with his most recent before now being the kind donation to the building of a mosque in Garoua during the Africa Cup of Nations hosted by Cameroon.

In his magnanimous best, Prime Business Africa recalls that Musa in Asaba in June 2019 at the Super Eagles hotel base, handed the sum of N25,000 to a lady who had to come to solicit for money to feed from the players and officials to start the business of selling second hand clothings popularly called ‘Okrika’ in local parlance.
