Stock Market Rises 0.59%, International Breweries, UACN, Other Investors Gain N145bn

Following trading on Tuesday, the market capitalisation gained N145.08 billion to hit N24.47 trillion – after the Nigerian stock exchange appreciated by 0.59 percent – rising from N24.23 trillion.

The growth was fueled by the 266.37 basis points that the All-Share Index gained during trading, to rise from 44,662.96 ASI to 44,929.33 ASI.

Investors increased the value of their investment to N3.85 billion after exchanging 126.56 million shares in 3,383 deals on Tuesday.

This contrasted with the 159.56 million shares, worth N1.95 billion, traded in 3,607 deals on Monday. 

Top five gainers

UPDC REIT share appreciated by N0.25kobo to rise from N2.50kobo to N2.75kobo per share.  

International Breweries grew by N0.40kobo, up from N4.25kobo to N4.65kobo per share.  

Sovereign Insurance ended trading with N0.26kobo from N0.24kobo per share, rising by 8.33 percent. 

Fidson gained N0.57kobo to end trading at N8.72kobo, having opened with N8.15kobo. 

UAC Nigeria stock was up by N0.60kobo closing with N9.50kobo from N8.90kobo per share. 

Top five losers

RT Briscoe depreciated by 10 percent, dwindling from N0.30kobo to N0.27kobo per share.  

Presco also fell by N8.50kobo to end trading at N110, after opening with N118.50kobo per share.  

Chams followed the same path, losing 4.17 percent after trading hours, to sell at N0.23kobo from N0.24kobo per share.  

Sunu Assurance reported a decline of 3.45 percent from previous day’s share price of N0.29kobo to end trading at N0.28kobo per share. 

Consolidated Hallmark Insurance share depreciated to N0.59kobo from N0.61kobo, after losing 3.28 percent during trading hours.

Top five trading equities in stock exchange

Zenith Bank reported 13.55 million shares valued at N298.63 million were traded on its floor.  

Fidelity Bank recorded 12.16 million shares valued at N49.49 million.  

MTN Nigeria saw investors trade 12 million of its shares valued at N2.4 billion.  

AIICO recorded 10.96 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N5.84 million.  

Transcorp reported 10.22 million shares valued at N11.53 million exchanged investors’ hands.
