Stock Market: Honeywell, Cadbury, Others Record N76.15 billion Gain Within Five Hours

Bulls Charge Ahead As NGX Shatters Records As Market Cap Surpasses N50trn

Investors in Honeywell Flour, Cadbury and others on the gainers list pocket N76.15 billion on Thursday, as the Nigerian bourse’s market capitalisation rose by 0.26 per cent.

These equities recorded high demands that lifted the market capitalisation from N28.36 trillion to N28.44 trillion.

This was on the back of the All-Share Index that rose by 415 basis points to appreciate from 52,096.01 ASI to 52,235.88 ASI at the end of trading. 

In addition, trading closed at 2.33 billion shares on Thursday. It was exchanged in 6,958 deals, worth N17.61 billion. 

Over 6.47 billion shares, valued at N19.42 billion, were traded in 4,996 deals during the previous session.

Top five gainers 

  • Honeywell Flour’s share appreciated by N0.28kobo to rise from N2.80kobo to N3.08 per share.    
  • Cadbury grew by N1.10kobo, up from N11.20kobo to N12.30kobo per share.
  • Neimeth ended trading with N1.38kobo from N1.26kobo per share, rising by N0.12kobo.  
  • Fidson gained N0.79kobo to end trading at N9.29kobo, having opened with N8.50kobo per share.    
  • CWG’s stock was up by 9.09 per cent, closing at N0.96kobo from N0.88kobo per share.      

Top five losers 

  • Nigerian Breweries depreciated by N3.65kobo, dwindling from N36.50kobo to N32.85kobo per share.       
  • International Energy Insurance also fell by N0.13kobo to end trading at N1.24kobo, after opening at N1.37kobo per share.       
  • Redstar Express followed the same path, losing N0.25kobo after trading hours, to sell at N2.55kobo from N2.80kobo per share.       
  • Berger reported a decline of N0.55kobo from the previous day’s share price of N7.10kobo to end trading at N7.65kobo per share.       
  • Lasaco share depreciated to N1.13kobo from N1.19kobo, after losing 5.04 per cent during trading hours.       

Top five trading equities in the stock exchange 

  • Access Corporation reported 1.23 billion shares, valued at N12.51 billion, were traded on its floor.     
  • Transcorp recorded 873.59 million shares valued at N2.75 billion.      
  • Japaul Gold saw investors trade 45.39 million of its shares valued at N17.27 million.      
  • UBA recorded 26.16 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N205.87 million.       
  • Fidelity Bank reported 24.96 million shares, valued at N131.58 million, exchanged investors’ hands.
