Stock Market Cap Sheds N307bn After Five Hours Of Trading

After five hours of trading on Thursday, the Nigerian stock market closed with a N307.03 billion loss as the equity capitalisation dropped to N76.45 trillion.

The market capitalisation decreased from N76.76 trillion after the all-share index (ASI) depreciated by 485.01 basis points from 121,257.69 ASI to 120,772.68 ASI.

On the trading floor, equity traders exchanged 892.97 million shares, worth N18.22 billion, in 25,375 deals, compared to the 861.67 million shares exchanged in 22,896 deals, worth N26,17 billion on Wednesday.

Top five gainers

  • Unilever’s share price increased by N4.70 kobo, to rise from N47 to N51.70 kobo per share.
  • SFS REIT’s share value grew by N22.65 kobo, from N249.25 kobo to N226.60 kobo per share.
  • Neimeth ended trading at N5.40 kobo per share, from N4.91 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N0.49 kobo.
  • UAC Nigeria gained N3.45 kobo to end trading at N38.05, having opened with N34.60 kobo.
  • CAP’s share value was up by N4.25 kobo, after closing at N47.10 kobo from N42.85 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • Thomas Wyatt’s share price depreciated by N0.23 kobo, dwindling from N2.30 kobo to N2.07 per share.
  • NAHCO recorded a N10.10 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N91 after opening with N101.10 kobo per share.
  • Oando lost N6.85 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N61.90 kobo from N68.75 kobo per share.
  • Associated Bus Company (ABC) reported a decline of N0.24 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N2.69 kobo to end trading at N2.45 kobo per share.
  • Champion Brew recorded a N0.91 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N10 after opening with N10.91 kobo per share.

  • Ellah Lakes reported that 113.49 million shares valued at N851.08 million were traded on its floor.
  • Access Holdings recorded 76.19 million shares valued at N1.73 billion.
  • Caverton saw investors trade 64.86 million of its shares valued at N334.83 million.
  • Japaul Gold recorded 61.56 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N126.66 million.
  • Zenith Bank reported 60.30 million shares valued at N3.47 billion exchanged in investors’ hands.
