Stanbic IBTC Earnings Increase To N1.13trn, Profit Rises By 81%

Between January and December 2025, Stanbic IBTC recorded N1.13 trillion gross earnings, surpassing the N823.30 billion generated in the corresponding period in 2024, indicating a 38.08 percent increase.

According to the company’s consolidated and separate financial statements for the year ended December 31, 2026, Stanbic IBTC ‘s interest income grew by 38.94 percent year-on-year, from N566.46 billion to N787.05 billion.

During the same period under review, the financial institution’s interest expense grew to N202.04 billion, exceeding the N156.01 billion reported in 2024, indicating an increase of 29.50 percent.

This led to the company’s net interest income rising by 42.52 percent to N585 billion in 2025, from the N410.45 billion reported the year before

Stanbic IBTC made N256.77 billion from fee and commission last year, compared to the N186.41 billion earned in 2024, representing an increase of 38.27 percent, while fee and commission expense grew faster, rising by 72.36 percent year-on-year, from N16.02 billion to N27.61 billion.

This left the lender with net fee and commission revenue of N230.15 billion between the first quarter (Q1) and the fourth quarter (Q4) of last year, compared to the N170.49 billion recorded in 2024, reflecting a 35.07 percent rise.

Trading revenue also skyrocketed during the period under review, rising by 33.67 percent year-on-year, from N57.56 billion to N76.95 billion, while other income decreased by 21.99 percent, from N10.69 billion to N8.34 billion.

In addition, Stanbic IBTC recorded N881.50 billion as income after credit impairment charges in 2025, which is 61 percent higher than the N547.48 billion recorded the year before.

However, operating expenses gulped N329.74 billion last year, which is more than the N243.68 billion incurred in 2024, representing an increase of 35.31 percent.

Regardless, Stanbic IBTC earned N551.75 billion as profit before tax (PBT) during the period under review, up by 81.62 percent when compared to the N303.79 billion pretax profit reported in 2024.

The company also saw a 117.82 percent increase in income tax charge, which increased from N78.48 billion recorded in 2024 to N170.96 billion in 2025.

Consequently, Stanbic IBTC reported profit after tax (PAT) of N380.79 billion between January and December 2025, above the N225.31 billion recorded in 2024, indicating an increase of 69 percent.
