Government of South Sudan has expressed its willingness to have bilateral relations with Nigeria for peace and stability.

South Sudan’s Minister Of Federal Affairs, Mr Lusuba Wango made the call during his visit to the Director General of the National Youth Corps (NYSC), Brig. Gen. Muhammad Fadah, on Wednesday in Abuja.

According to Wango, South Sudan has a very large youth population and his visit to Nigeria will provide his country the opportunity to know how Nigeria structured its system to accommodate the youth and also to know how Nigerian youths contribute to ensuring peace and stability in the country.

South Sudan gained its independence in 2011 after years of crisis with Sudan.

Wango said his country is appreciative of the support that came from different African countries during the struggle for independence.

“Nigeria is special with respect to our needs, because Nigeria shares a lot of similar historical challenges with us, and we are interested in learning from Nigeria, particularly on the establishment of its federal system of government.

“This will enable us to structure a federal system that will accommodate our country’s cultural, religious and ethnic differences and help us in appointing resources in the areas of power allocation and natural resources.”

While welcoming the delegation, Fadah mentioned that he was happy to know that the county had continued to make impressive stride towards economic and political stability.

According to Fadah, the visit to Nigeria is a move towards consolidating African Solidarity.
