Soludo Mourns Annie Okonkwo, Hails His Achievements

Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has expressed sadness over the news of the death of a former Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Chief Annie Okonkwo.

Governor Soludo noted that as a prominent son of Anambra State who hails from Ojoto in Idemili South Local Government Area of the State, the late Senator Okonkwo has paid his own dues trying to serve the State.

A statement signed by Christian Aburime, Press Secretary to the Governor reads: “The Governor, on behalf of the Anambra State Government and the entire people of the State, commiserates with the family and friends of the deceased over this painful loss.

“The Governor further prayed that the good Lord grants his soul eternal rest and the family he left behind the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss!”

Chief Okonkwo died in the United States at the age of 63 years after battling with cancer of the lungs.

Aside from his foray into politics, he was also an entrepreneur who successfully ran a conglomerate with business interests in oil and gas, telecommunications, real estate development, and trading among others.
