Liverpool manager, Arne Slot, is tight-lipped over the imminent signing of right wing back Jeremy Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen.

The Ghana-born Dutch international, Frimpong, according to multiple sources, has agreed a deal to sign for the Premier League champions.

Frimpong is deemed as the ideal replacement for the departing Trent Alexander-Arnold who is poised to sign for Real Madrid this summer.

Speaking after the 3-2 defeat to Brighton and Hoves Albion on Monday night, the Dutch tactician at his post match press conference suggested that the club have not wrapped up an agreement with the player’s camp.

“What do you think?

“I think what we all know is the moment we announce it, that is the moment to talk about it in general. We haven’t announced anything so no need to talk about anyone.”

Speaking  after his team’s defeat to Brighton on his decision to hand rare starting places for the likes of Harvey Elliot and Federico Chiesa, Slot insisted he has come to know the qualities of the players since his arrival from the Dutch Eredevisie.

Remarkably, it was night off for captain Virgil van Dijk who has not missed a game this season, as well as Trent Alexander-Arnold who was not played amid fans’ dissatisfaction over his imminent move to Real Madrid.

“I know these players already for 10 months, so it’s not the first time I’m judging them.

“But it’s nice to see all Harvey score a goal. He had an assist, not the most difficult one, great goal by Dominik Szobloszlai and Federico had a few good moments as well, especially if you take into account how long he’s not been playing,” the former Feyenoord manager stressed.

Meanwhile forward Harvey Elliott has hinted that he could weigh a possible exit from the club and says: “it’s about what’s best for my career.”

Elliott made only his second Liverpool start in 17 appearances across all competitions for the Reds on Monday night, scoring and assisting in the advanced midfield role.

The England international’s limited playing time has led to transfer rumours around him.

Speaking with Sky Sports in an Interview, Elliott noted that he has “tried as hard as I could” but it has “been hard” having played only 821 minutes across the season.

“It’s been hard with how much I’ve played. I’ve tried as hard as I could and whatever happens, happens,” the 22-year-old said.

“It’s about what’s best for my career. It’s about reflecting and seeing what I can do. I’m here at the moment and I’m focusing on the final game.”
