Ojukwu varsity matriculates 8000 students for 2024/2025 session

Acting Vice-chancellor, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Anambra State, Prof. Kate Omenugha, has admonished fresh students to avoid cultism, illicit hard drugs, examination malpractices, keeping bad company and other vices to graduate with go results and make positive contribution to society.

Prof. Omenugha gave the advice on Saturday during the matriculation of fresh undergraduate students for the 2024/2025 academic session.

Prime Business Africa gathered that not less than 8,000 fresh students who gained admission into the university in the 2024/2025 session. The matriculation ceremony took place simultaneously at both Igbariam and Uli campuses of the university on Saturday, 22 February 2025.

Prof. Omenugha urged parents to monitor activities of their children in school and should always pay them unscheduled visits, as it will help to curtail their excesses.

She also emphasised the need for students to always pay school fees to enable the university management run the system efficiently by maintaining existing facilities and providing new ones.

The acting vice-chancellor highlighted some of the achievements of the university within the last one year since she took over.

According to her, the university has recorded excellent performance in the area of academics. Under her leadership, COOU as experienced significant infrastructural development, enhanced research output, and strengthened international partnerships.

Omenugha said the three-Vs agenda- Viability, Visibility, and Values, of her administration has helped create a revitalized university environment where the focus is on enhancing academic integrity with zero tolerance for fraud and fostering a student-centric governance model that protects student rights.
