Shareholders Of Ecobank, Cadbury, Others Lose N81bn After Trading Hours

The equity capitalisation of the Nigerian stock market fell to N66.49 trillion on Wednesday, April 30, from N66.57 trillion recorded on Tuesday, April 29, losing N81.29 billion.

Similarly, the all-share index (ASI) lost 130.33 basis points to decline from 105,931.18 ASI to 105,800.85 ASI.

On the trading floor, 392.99 million shares were traded in 17,519 deals worth N12.75 billion, compared to the 733.05 million shares exchanged the previous day, in 16,619 deals, worth N35.28 billion.

Top five gainers

UPL’s share price increased by N0.34 kobo to rise from N3.40 kobo to N3.74 kobo per share.

Vitaform’s share value grew by N4.80 kobo, up from N48 to N52.80 kobo per share.

Livestock ended trading at N8.49 kobo per share, from N7.72 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N0.77 kobo.

C&I Leasing gained N0.36 kobo to end trading at N4, having opened with N3.64 kobo.

MC Nichols’ share value was up by N0.17 kobo, after closing at N1.89 kobo from N1.72 kobo per share.

Top five losers

Ecobank’s share price depreciated by N3.20 kobo, dwindling from N32 to N28.80 kobo per share.

International Breweries recorded a N0.82 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N7.38 kobo after opening with N8.20 kobo per share.

Ikeja Hotel lost N1.35 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N12.30 kobo from N13.65 kobo per share.

Cadbury reported a decline of N3.15 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N32.15 kobo to end trading at N29 per share.

Austin Laz recorded a N0.18 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N1.71 kobo after opening with N1.89 kobo per share.

Top five trading equities in the stock exchange

UBA reported that 38.85 million shares valued at N1.35 billion were traded on its floor.

Wema Bank recorded 86.85 million shares valued at N400 million.

Fidelity Bank saw investors trade 25.39 million of its shares valued at N525.05 million.

Access Corporation recorded 25.04 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N565.19 million.

Zenith Bank reported 20.70 million shares valued at N992.31 million exchanged in investors’ hands.
