Beating Nigeria to the ticket of the 2024 Olympics Games in Paris is the sole aim of newly appointed head coach of the Senegal women’s senior basketball national team, Albert Antuna.

Nigeria’s D’Tigress defeated Senegal in the final of the Women’s Afrobasket Championship in 2023.

However Antuna who replaced Mustapha Gaye the man who was in the saddle when the francophone West Africans lost to Nigeria has vowed to avenge the defeat and ensure the country qualifies for next year’s Olympics at the expense of Nigeria.

The qualification series to the 2024 Olympics will restart in February 2024 after the last round of games in August and Antuna speaking ahead of the games against Nigeria, Belgium and the the United States is confident that they can make it to the Games at the expense of Nigeria.

“The first objective is qualification for the Olympic Games.

“We know that we will have work in this group. I won’t be here if we can’t beat Nigeria, that’s why I’m here,” Antuna enthused.

“I know we will have to work hard and there is not much time left. We will have to be realistic.

“I know that the team will mainly be made up of players who have played in AfroBasket but we will start preparation with those who will be available, especially at the local level.” the confident coach stated.
