Nwakali last played for Huesca which he had to leave after the termination of his contract towards the end of last season.

The Most Valueable Player of the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile where Nigeria won a historic fifth title in the cadet tournament came under immense pressure from the management of Huesca to snub the invitation to play for Nigeria at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Nwakali who went ahead to be part of the Super Eagles’ squad at the AFCON coached by Super Eagles faced the ire of his employers for daring to go and represent his fatherland despite their objection towards it.

That face-off culminated in the contract of Nwakali being terminated.

The Professional Footballers Association in Spain rallied around the Nigerian and sought justice in court which saw his salaries which were hitherto withheld paid.

Nwakali joins his new club as a free agent.
