SCOA Leads Gainers, NGX Group Tops Losers In Stock Market

Caverton, Ikeja Hotel Halt NGX's Bullish Run, Market Cap Drops By N457bn

The equity capitalisation of the Nigerian stock market increased from N91.60 trillion on Tuesday, August 5, to N92.25 trillion on Wednesday, August 6.

This represents a N643.73 billion growth, which was driven by the 1,017.49 basis points gained by the all-share index (ASI), as it moved from 144,796.37 ASI to 145,813.86 ASI.

On the trading floor, 2.69 billion shares, worth N32.63 billion, were traded in 35,137 deals, indicating traders exchanged more shares than the 1.02 billion shares traded in 38,932 deals, valued at N22.83 billion, on Tuesday.

Top five gainers

  • SCOA’s share price increased by N0.50 kobo, to rise from N5 to N5.50 kobo per share.
  • HMCall’s share value grew by N0.44 kobo, from N4.40 kobo to N4.84 kobo per share.
  • NEM Insurance ended trading at N29.70 kobo per share, from N27 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N2.70 kobo.
  • Learn Africa gained N0.57 kobo to end trading at N6.27 kobo, having opened with N5.70 kobo.
  • Jaiz Bank’s share value was up by N0.43 kobo, after closing at N4.73 kobo from N4.30 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • NGX Group’s share price depreciated by N7, dwindling from N70 to N63 per share.
  • UAC Nigeria recorded a N10 decline in its share price to end trading at N90 after opening with N100 per share.
  • UHOM REIT lost N6.40 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N57.60 kobo from N64 per share.
  • LivingTrust reported a decline of N0.59 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N5.94 kobo to end trading at N5.35 kobo per share.
  • Multiverse recorded a N1.05 decline in its share price to end trading at N9.80 kobo after opening with N10.85 kobo per share.

  • Consolidated Hallmark Holdings reported that 1.01 billion shares valued at N2.66 billion were traded on its floor.
  • Linkage Assurance recorded 562.31 million shares valued at N978.43 million.
  • Sterling Financial Holdings Company saw investors trade 183.77 million of its shares valued at N1.49 billion.
  • AIICO recorded 90.68 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N262.97 million.
  • Zenith Bank reported 60.35 million shares valued at N4.54 billion were exchanged by investors.
