Rivers United Holds Burkina Faso’s Etoile Filante In Confed Cup First Leg

Rivers United on Sunday night held their hosts Etoile Filante of Burkina Faso to a goalless draw in the first leg of the second round of the CAF Confederation Cup played at Yammoussokro in Abidjan.

The Pride of Rivers qualified for the second round of the preliminary round of the competition after the draw.

Etoile on their part reached the second round after they defeated Casa Ziguiqor of Senegal in the first round.

Second leg of the tie will go down on the 1st of October, at the Adokie Amasiamaka stadium in Port Harcourt.

The winner of two legs will progress to the group stage of the competition.

The Stanley Eguma’s team got to the quarterfinals of the CAf Confederation Cup last season.

Nigeria’s second representative in the competition, Bendel Insurance played a 2-2 draw against RC Berkene of Morocco at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, Benin City on Saturday evening.

Insurance head coach Monday Odigie was livid with the performance of his players in the game and they are condemned to pick up an away win in the second leg of the fixtures in a fortnight.

He has been part of cast in some Nollywood movies and radio dramas including Blood Money 2, Scores To Settle, Dead End 2, Another Campus Tale and Battle Line.

Aside mainstream media and the entertainment industry, he has interests in scouting/unearthing of talents in the sports and creative sectors, exports business and property development.
