Rivers Monarch Honours Super Eagles Goalkeeper Nwabali With Chieftaincy Title

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has been honoured by the traditional ruler of Mgbede community in Egbema Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Nzeobi Evaristus Amuda for his excellent performance at the recently concluded 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire, reports Prime Business Africa.

The Chippa United safehands kept four clean sheets and was in the running for the goalkeeper of the tournament award won by South Africa’s Thebo Williams.

Nzeobi Evaristus Amuda, who is also the chairman Onelga council of chiefs, noted that the title conferred on Nwabali is in recognition of the honour the goalkeeper has brought to Egbema Kingdom and ONELGA following his performance for the Super Eagles.

The recognition follows the N20m awarded to the goalkeeper by the Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Friday at a state event where he was also bestowed with the honour of Distinguished Service Star of Rivers State (DSSRS).

Meanwhile, the Executive Chairman of Ogba Egbema Ndoni Local government area, Honourable Vincent Job announced a ₦5m reward to Nwabali and named a street after him.

Nwabali had earned the National Awards of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) with other national team players and officials as honoured by President Bola Tinubu during the presidential reception for Super Eagles at the State House, Abuja on Tuesday.
