The queen’s death came after the palace announced on Thursday that doctors were “concerned” about her health.

All her children — Charles, Princess Anne, 72, Prince Andrew, 62, and Prince Edward, 58, moved to her Scottish Highland retreat, Balmoral.

They were joined by Charles’s sons, Prince William, and his estranged brother Prince Harry.

A statement from the Royal Family’s official Twitter handle says “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”

Born November 14, 1948, Charles was heir apparent as well as Duke of Cornwall and Duke of Rothesay from 1952 till Thursday, September 8, 2022, when the Queen passed on.

Charles had his early education at Cheam and Gordonstoun schools and the Timbertop campus of Geelong Grammar School in Victoria, Australia. He later proceeded to the University of Cambridge where bagged a Bachelor of Arts degree. He served in the British Royal Navy from 1971 to 1976. He got married in 1981 to Lady Diana Spencer, with whom he had two sons: Prince William and Prince Harry. In 1996, the couple divorced following well-publicised extramarital affairs by both parties. Diana died as a result of a car crash in Paris the following year.

As Prince, Charles undertook official duties on behalf of the Queen.
