The country has since July this year been facing what authorities described as the worst in at least the last decade as the death toll has risen to an all time high while millions have been displaced.

The country’s Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development,  Sadiya Umar Farouq during a media briefing on Sunday, said  about 603 people have lost their lives in the floods, while thousands are being evacuated from their homes and called on the states, local governments and communities to “prepare for more flooding by evacuating people living on flood plains to high grounds, provide tents and relief materials, fresh water as well as medical supplies for a possible outbreak of water-borne disease.”

The flood has affected 33 out of the 36 states in Nigeria  as over 1.3 million people have been displaced by the disaster says Farouq.
