Former legal adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mark Jacob has lambasted the leadership of the party for not providing healthy opposition to the ruling party, All People Congress.

The PDP was one of the high profile political parties that challenged the APC in last year’s presidential elections with Atiku Abubakar the flagbearer of the party.

However, Bola Ahmed Tinubu emerged Nigeria’s president in a highly contested poll that also involved Labour Party’s Peter Obi.

Jacob was guest on Arise TV where he bore his thoughts on the PDP.

“A lot of people expect a lot from the PDP, beyond what is going on today. We have let them down,” Jacob stated.

“It’s a welcome development that we have a Board of Trustees (BoT) substantive chairman and secretary that is well respected within the rounds of the PDP.

“However, it’s not uhuru for the PDP and I must say this frankly that a lot of people expect a lot more from PDP beyond what is going on today.

“We (PDP) have let a lot down a lot of our teeming supporters in the country. A lot of people no longer have joy and confidence in the party.

“Morale is very low in the ranks of the party and its very easy to know why.

“Every democracy in the world and Nigeria in particular needs a ville, healthy opposition that is well grounded and can meet up, stand up to those in government,” Jacob concluded.
