The campaign flag off is scheduled for Wednesday, January 4, 2023.

The move is considered part of a plot to ditch the camp of Atiku and officially join the G-5 group.

The G-5 group led by Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, comprises other State Governors like Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, Samuel Ortom (Benue), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu) and Seyi Makinde (Oyo). They have since declined to support Atiku’s presidential bid over the continued stay in power of the PDP National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu.

Prime Business Africa gathered that Bala who is tilting towards the camp of G-5 Governors has continued to have disagreement with governors and politicians loyal to Atiku.

The Bauchi governor who has not openly declared his membership of the G-5 has been in a feud with Atiku Abubakar.

He had reportedly accused Atiku and his supporters of trying to thwart his bid for reelection.

In November 2022, Governor Bala had written a letter to the PDP National Chairman, accusing Atiku of threatening to “punish” him for contesting against him during the party’s presidential primary and threatened to withdraw from the presidential campaign council if the issues were not resolved.

“I may withdraw from the PCC and feel free to create new measures and strategies that would guarantee the election and re-election of all PDP candidates in Bauchi and myself,” the Governor had stated.
