N79bn Lost As Stock Investors Dump Ellah Lakes, John Holt, Others

The stock market capitalisation shed N79.08 billion after trading hours on Tuesday, which resulted in the bourse depreciating by 0.22 per cent.

Consequently, the Nigerian bourse’s market capitalisation fell to N35.01 trillion, from N34.93 trillion reported on Monday. 

The All-Share Index dipped by 145.32 basis points, to close at 64,192.2, below the preceding day’s 64,337.52 ASI.

Over 762.09 million shares, valued at N7.71 billion, were exchanged in 7,935 deals. The volume of shares traded was higher than the previous day’s 673.42 million shares, exchanged in 9,788 deals, valued at N6.47 billion. 

Top five gainers 

  • Dangote Sugar’s share appreciated by N2.70 kobo to rise from N27 to N29.70 kobo per share.    
  • Abbey grew by N0.10 kobo, up from N1 to N1.10 kobo per share.    
  • Chellaram ended trading with N2.56 kobo from N2.33 kobo per share, rising by N0.23 kobo.    
  • Tantalizer gained 9.68 per cent to end trading at N0.34 kobo, having opened with N0.31 kobo per share.     
  • Sunu Assurance’s stock was up by 9.09 per cent, closing at N0.72 kobo from N0.66 kobo per share.    

Top five losers 

  • John Holt depreciated by N0.20 kobo, dwindling from N2 to N1.80 kobo per share.      
  • Ellah Lakes declined by N0.39 kobo to end trading at N3.54 kobo, after opening at N3.93 kobo per share.      
  • Fidelity Bank followed the same path, losing N0.85 kobo after trading hours, to sell at N7.75 kobo from N8.60 kobo per share.      
  • Japaul Gold reported a decline of N0.10 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N1.03 to end trading at N0.93 kobo per share.      
  • Sovereign Insurance’s share depreciated to N0.57 kobo from N0.63 kobo, after losing 9.52 per cent during trading hours. 

Top five trading equities in the stock exchange 

  • AIICO reported 314.64 million shares, valued at N220.21 million, were traded on its floor.      
  • UBA recorded 54.49 million shares valued at N742.99 million.    
  • Mansard saw investors trade 48.83 million shares valued at N197.99 million.    
  • ETI recorded 41.87 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N640.26 million.    
  • FCMB reported 28.55 million shares, valued at N175.71 million, exchanged investors’ hands.
