Over N4.09 billion Lost In Stock Market, Unity Bank Tops Losers’ List

Nigerian stock market capitalisation dipped by N4.09 billion on Friday, dropping from N32.24 trillion to N32.23 trillion.

The All-Share Index slightly declined by 4.63 basis points to 59,206.63 ASI, from 59,211.26 ASI.

Over 627.87 million shares were exchanged in 6,953 deals, worth N9.15 billion, on Friday. 

This contrasted with the 615.91 million shares traded the previous day in 7,459 deals, worth N6.61 billion.

Top five gainers 

  • Fidson’s share appreciated by N1.17 kobo to rise from N11.70 kobo to N12.87 kobo per share. 
  • Transcorp Hotels grew by N1.60 kobo, up from N16 to N17.60 kobo per share.
  • RT Briscoe ended trading with N0.44 kobo from N0.40 kobo per share, rising by 10 per cent. 
  • Nascon gained N1.70 kobo to end trading at N18.70 kobo, having opened with N1.70 kobo per share. 
  • Cornerstone’s stock was up by N0.11 kobo, closing at N1.22 kobo from N1.11 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • Unity Bank depreciated by N0.12 kobo, dwindling from N1.22 kobo to N1.10 kobo per share. 
  • Wapic also fell by 9.57 per cent to end trading at N0.85 kobo, after opening at N0.94 kobo per share. 
  • McNichols followed the same path, losing 9.46 per cent after trading hours, to sell at N0.67 kobo from N0.74 kobo per share. 
  • NEM reported a decline of N0.63 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N6.93 kobo to end trading at N6.30 kobo per share. 
  • Ecobank’s share depreciated to N14 from N15.40 kobo, after losing N1.40 kobo during trading hours.

Top five trading equities in the stock exchange 

  • LivingTrust reported 113 million shares, valued at N303.98 million, were traded on its floor. 
  • UBA recorded 62.68 million shares valued at N714.37 million. 
  • GTCO saw investors trade 49.51 million shares valued at N1.54 billion. 
  • Transcorp recorded 38.01 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N119.60 million. 
  • Zenith Bank reported 36.44 million shares, valued at N1.15 billion, exchanged investors’ hands.
