Investors Gain Over N17.74 billion In TransCorp, IB, Other Shares

The market capitalisation of the Nigerian bourse rose to N27.87 trillion on Wednesday, 19 April 2023, with investors pocketing N17.74 billion.

Prime Business Africa learnt that the equity capitalisation appreciated by 0.06 per cent from the N27.85 trillion reported on Tuesday, 18 April 2023.

Also, the All-Share Index jumped to 51,178.41 ASI from 51,138.92 ASI, after gaining 39.49 basis points.

Investors parted with N3.97 billion to trade 1.27 billion shares in 3,505 deals on Wednesday.

They had exchanged N5.02 billion on Tuesday for 1.81 billion shares in 4,669 deals.

Top five gainers 

  • Transcorp’s share appreciated by N0.20kobo to rise from N2.03 to N2.23kobo per share.   
  • International Breweries grew by N0.30kobo, up from N4.45kobo to N4.75kobo per share.   
  • Academy ended trading with N1.30kobo from N1.22kobo per share, rising by 6.56 per cent. 
  • Livestock gained 4.26 per cent to end trading at N0.98kobo, having opened with N0.94kobo per share.   
  • RT Briscoe’s stock was up by 4.17 per cent, closing at N0.25kobo from N0.24kobo per share.     

Top five losers 

  • FTN Cocoa depreciated by 3.85 per cent, dwindling from N0.26kobo to N0.25kobo per share.      
  • Prestige also fell by 2.50 per cent to end trading at N0.39kobo, after opening at N0.40kobo per share.      
  • NB followed the same path losing N0.55kobo after trading hours, to sell at N36.20kobo from N36.75kobo per share.      
  • Wapco reported a decline of N0.35kobo from the previous day’s share price of N23.75kobo to end trading at N23.40kobo per share.      
  • Africa Prudential share depreciated to N5.40kobo from N5.45kobo, after losing 0.92 per cent during trading hours.      

Top five trading equities in the stock exchange   

  • Transcorp reported 1.13 million shares, valued at N2.13 million, were traded on its floor.    
  • Fidelity Bank recorded 19.51 million shares valued at N102.59 million.     
  • Zenith Bank saw investors trade 16.48 million of its shares valued at N359.07 million.     
  • GTCO recorded 15.08 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N379.99 million.      
  • Dangote Sugar reported 8.97 million shares, valued at N154.78 million, exchanged investors’ hands.
