Nigeria international, Victor Osimhen has been named in the shortlist for a striker’s position at Manchester United.

United are keen to sign a world class striker following the January exit of Cristiano Ronaldo in acrimonious circumstances.

Ronaldo fell out with manager Erik ten Hag at the club and has since signed for Saudi Arabia’s Al Nassr in a deal that will see him earn close to £177 million annually.

The in-form Super Eagles hitman has scored 12 Serie A goals this season and is expected to surpass the 20-goal mark in the current 2022/2023 season.

United are third in the Premier League table and will face leaders, Arsenal in a ‘Super Sunday’ clash that is unarguably the biggest match of the weekend in England.

Reports in the English media on Saturday indicate that Osimhen is ranked third in the options that United have pencilled down for the summer.

Osimhen who won the topscorer’s prize at the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile where Nigeria, won the cadet title for the fifth time has played professional football in Europe for clubs like Weder Bremen of Germany and Lille in France.

The Nigerian has played a total of 1,163 minutes of league football this season in 14 matches.

Tottenham Hotspur and England captain, Harry Kane tops the three-man shortlist with RB Leipzig striker, Sesko who is moving to the German Bundesliga side from RB Salzburg- both sides owned by same owners.

United 72 hours ago signed Burnley striker, Wout Weghoust, is regarded as a stop-gap according to the Daily Mail.

United however may have a new management in place when the transfer window comes around as there talks of selling the club.
