Osimhen Makes FIFA Team of the Year 2023 Nominees List

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has been named among the shortlist for the FIFA Team of the Year 2023.

The Nigerian international who has scored 10 Serie A goals for leaders Napoli this season and another strike in the Copa D’ Italia has been sensational for the title-chasing side.

The Parthenopeans are nailed-on to qualify for the UEFA Champions League and with a seven-point gap above their next challengers, are leading contenders for the Scudetto.

Osimhen is central to that aspiration and he has been listed with other illustrious names in the game like Karim Benzema, Neymar, Vinícius Jnr., Ousmane Dembélé, João Félix, Gabriel Jesus, Phil Foden, Cody Gakpo, Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, Robert Lewandowski, Sadio Mané, Kylian Mbappé, Christopher Nkunku, Darwin Núñez, Mohammed Salah, Heung Min Son, Dusan Vlahovic, Olivier Giroud and Antoine Griezmann.

According to FIFA, fans will now be able to vote on who merits a spot in the renowned Team Of The Year XI, as voting has just begun and will end on January 17, with the final list being announced on Thursday, January 19.

Osimhen was not able to team with Nigeria’s squad for the 2021 African Cup in Cameroon due to a serious facial injury.
