In a fiercely contested Best Actor category, Murphy emerged victorious for his portrayal of Oppenheimer in the titular role. Throughout the film’s expansive three-hour narrative, Murphy’s nuanced expressions, captured in vivid detail on 65mm film, convey the complexity of Oppenheimer’s character.

His performance stands as a towering achievement, encapsulating the mix of ambition and remorse that defined Oppenheimer’s journey in developing the atomic bomb. To embody the role authentically, Murphy underwent a rigorous physical transformation, shedding 28 pounds to emulate Oppenheimer’s gaunt appearance. “Oppenheimer” marks Murphy’s sixth collaboration with director Christopher Nolan
