Ogun Opens Rebuilt Akute–Ajuwon–Alagbole Road, Rolls Out Fresh Statewide Projects

November 15, 2025

The Ogun State Government has commissioned the newly reconstructed Akute–Ajuwon–Alagbole Road in Ifo Local Government Area, describing the project as a major step in its ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and ease mobility across the state.

The road, which had been a persistent concern for residents after years of neglect, has now been fully rehabilitated. State officials said its completion underscores the government’s commitment to delivering key projects that support economic growth and improve the daily lives of citizens.

Speaking at the commissioning, the government announced that 11 additional road projects would soon be awarded across Ogun State as part of a broader plan to enhance connectivity and open up new economic corridors.

In the Akute–Ajuwon–Alagbole axis, several adjoining roads have already been completed or rehabilitated. These include Alhaji Kosoko Road, Segun Osoba Road, Toyin Street, Yakoyo–Alagbole Road and the Hercules–Oke Aro–Giwa Road, which is now ready for commissioning.

Authorities noted that the Akute–Ajuwon–Alagbole stretch serves as a vital link between multiple communities. Work is also progressing on the first phase of the Akute–Lanbe–Oke Aro–Agbado–Ijoko–Sango Road up to the Agbado Train Station, while the second phase, extending to Sango, is expected to be awarded shortly. The Alagbole–Akute Road is projected to be commissioned in the coming weeks.

The state government added that other major projects across Ifo I, Ifo II and the wider Ogun Central district such as the Sango–Ijoko–Agbado Road, Adesan Road, Magboro–Makogi Road, Elega–Isaje–Miliki–Bode–Olude Extension, Oke–Lantoro–Yidi Lane and the Sango–Abeokuta Road are at various stages of completion.

Officials stressed that the region had suffered prolonged neglect despite its strategic importance. They said ongoing interventions fall under the government’s Urban Renewal Programme and align with its ISEYA development agenda aimed at repositioning Ogun State for sustained socioeconomic progress.

The government also acknowledged the support of President Tinubu in accelerating development initiatives nationwide.

Residents of Ifo II were commended for their patience during the construction period, while community leaders and stakeholders were praised for their cooperation. The government urged locals to help preserve the newly completed projects by keeping road corridors and drainage channels clean.
