Nigeria’s Under 18 Handball Team In Camp Ahead IHF Trophy Africa Continental Phase

The Nigeria Under 18 girls Handball national team are in camp to intensify preparation ahead of the IHF Trophy Africa Continental Phase which will hold in Abidjan, Ivory Coast from August 8th through to the 19th, 2023.

The team coached by Shittu Adewunmi Agboola will be participating in the competition as Africa Zone 3 champion following their victory in the IHF Trophy Africa Zone 3 tourney held earlier in the year in Ghana and have started training at the Rowe Park Sports Center in Yaba, Lagos.

A large number of the girls that participated in the zonal competition are in camp led by captain Esther Matthew who was voted the MVP at the IHF Trophy Africa Zone 3 tourney in Ghana as well as goalkeeper Samuel Precious from Rima Strikers who was voted the best goalkeeper in the Africa Zone 3 Tourney.

Alao in camp are the Babatunde twins from Seasider Babes of Lagos amongst others.

The team will be playing in the Under 18 category alongside Guinea, Madagascar and Rwanda and matches will be played at the Centre ivoiro – coréen sports hall in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

The winner of the competition will represent Africa in the international phase of the IHF Trophy.
