Nigeria’s U-18 Handball Women’s Team Qualify For 2024 World Championship

Nigeria’s U-18 Women’s Handball national team has qualified for the 2024 IHF Women’s Youth World Championship after defeating Morocco 28-14, Wednesday night at the Africa Women’s Youth Handball Championship in Monastir, Tunisia.

The Nigeria’s U-18 ladies went into the quarterfinals match with a victory needed to qualify for the 2024 Handball World Championship which will hold in China, reports Prime Business Africa.

The West African side led at the half time break with a score of 17-5 albeit the Moroccans came back stronger in the second half.

The north Africans’ resolve were however too little, too late as the more skillful Nigerians triumphed 28-14 to reach the semifinals.

Nigeria will play Egypt in the semi finals on Friday at 6:30pm

Nigeria’s Chidera Ogwumsimba was voted MVP of the match.

The World Championship ticket is the first achieved by the country in Handball. The team will also participate in the IHF Women Trophy Intercontinental Phase later in the year
