Nigerian Stock Market Valuation Rises By N578.89bn To N97.77trn

The equity market closed in positive territory for the second time this week as stocks rose by 0.04%. Investors traded N15.07bn worth of shares.

On Tuesday, December 23, the valuation of the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Limited, also known as the stock market, increased by N578.89 billion to N97.77 trillion, from the N97.19 trillion recorded on Monday, December 22.

The all-share index (ASI) increased to 153,354.13 ASI, from 152,459.07 ASI, indicating an expansion of 895.06 basis points.

Over 677,43 million shares were exchanged in 27,589 deals, worth N20,78 billion, compared to the previous day’s 451,52 million shares traded in 33,327 deals, valued at N13.03 billion.

Top five gainers

  • FGSUK2031S4’s share price increased by N8.93 kobo to rise from N80 to N88.93 kobo per share.
  • ALEX’s share value grew by N1.35 kobo, from N13.55 kobo to N14.90 kobo per share.
  • Austin Laz ended trading at N2.91 kobo per share, from N2.65 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N0.26 kobo.
  • Custodian gained N3.40 kobo to end trading at N38.50 kobo, having opened with N35.10 kobo.
  • First HoldCo’s share value was up by N4.30 kobo, after closing at N50.30 kobo from N46 per share.

Top five losers

  • Royal Exchange’s share price depreciated by N0.14 kobo, dwindling from N1.94 kobo to N1.80 kobo per share.
  • Champion Brew recorded a N1.10 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N15.65 kobo after opening with N16.75 per share.
  • NASCON lost N5.95 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N105.05 from N111 per share.
  • Sovereign Insurance recorded a N0.21 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N3.77 kobo after opening with N3.98 kobo per share.
  • Japaul Gold reported a decline of N0.11 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N2.44 kobo to end trading at N2.33 kobo per share.

  • VFD Group reported that 191.97 million shares valued at N2.07 billion were traded on its floor.
  • GTCO recorded 63.44 million shares valued at N5.59 billion.
  • Access Holdings saw investors trade 49.77 million of its shares valued at N1.02 billion.
  • First HoldCo recorded 45.81 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N2.24 billion.
  • NSLTECH reported 39.33 million shares valued at N28.35 million exchanged in investors’ hands.
