Nigerian Stock Market Returns From Eid-el-Kabir Break With N377.88bn Loss

NGX Set To Lose N60bn As MRS Oil Nigeria Plc Plans To Delist Shares

After a two-day break to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir festival, the Nigerian stock market opened trading for this week with a 0.52 per cent decline in the equity capitalisation on Tuesday, June 10.

According to data obtained from the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX), the market capitalisation fell by N377.88 billion from N72.27 trillion on Thursday, June 5, to N71.89 trillion.

The all-share index (ASI) followed the same path, declining from 114,616.75 ASI to 114,017.48 ASI after losing 599.27 basis points.

Investors traded over 652,63 million shares, worth N18,87 billion, in 23,978 deals, compared to the 1,46 billion shares, valued at N33.47 billion, traded in 16,410 deals on Thursday.

Top five gainers

  • Daar Communications’ share price increased by 10 percent to rise from N0.60 kobo to N0.66 kobo per share.
  • Berger Paint’s share value grew by N2.05, from N20.50 kobo to N22.55 kobo per share.
  • E-Tranzact ended trading at N6.60 kobo per share, from N6 per share – indicating an increase of N0.60 kobo.
  • Legend Internet gained N0.53 kobo to end trading at N5.87 kobo, having opened with N5.34 kobo.
  • Omatek’s share value was up by 8.22 percent, after closing at N0.79 kobo from N0.73 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • RT Briscoe’s share price depreciated by N0.25 kobo, dwindling from N2.50 kobo to N2.25 per share.
  • John Holt recorded a N0.75 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N6.85 kobo after opening with N7.60 kobo per share.
  • Beta Glass lost N22.55 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N210.10 kobo from N232.65 kobo per share.
  • Aradel reported a decline of N50 from the previous day’s share price of N550 to end trading at N500 per share.
  • Deap Capital recorded an 8.16 percent decline in its share price to end trading at N0.90 kobo after opening with N0.98 kobo per share.

  • Access Corporation reported that 88.29 million shares valued at N1.97 billion were traded on its floor.
  • Zenith Bank recorded 49.33 million shares valued at N2.51 billion.
  • GTCO saw investors trade 47.24 million of its shares valued at N3.34 billion.
  • Fidelity Bank recorded 42.92 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N844.83 million.
  • Wapic reported 34.99 million shares valued at N70.56 million exchanged in investors’ hands.
