Nigerian Govt Declares Public Holiday On Monday, September 16

The Federal Government has declared Monday, 16th September, as a public holiday. The announcement was made on Friday, 13th September, by Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, on behalf of the government.

The public holiday has been declared to enable Muslims across the country celebrate Eid-ul-Mawlid, marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

Eid-ul-Mawlid is an important occasion for Muslims, commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad. It is a time of reflection and celebration for the Muslim community.

The Federal Government, in recognition of this event, decided to grant a public holiday to allow Muslims the time to observe this special day.

Tunji-Ojo congratulated all Muslim faithful in Nigeria and wished them a peaceful celebration. He also urged citizens to continue to uphold peace, unity, and tolerance during this period.

The declaration also reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to fostering religious harmony in the country. The government encouraged all Nigerians, regardless of their faith, to take this time to appreciate the country’s cultural and religious diversity.
