NGX: Investors Gain N313bn As ASI Rebound By 0.70%

Nigerian Breweries, NGX Group, Others Cost Stock Market Investors N24.58 billion

Nigeria’s stock market capitalisation slumped to N28.65 trillion from N28.68 trillion on Tuesday, 24 January 2023, after shedding N24.58 billion to low demands in Nigerian Breweries, NGX Group, and others.

The loss was reflected in the All-Share Index which depreciated to 52,612.55 ASI after losing 45.14 basis points from Monday’s 52,657.69 ASI.  

Over 182.39 million shares, valued at N4.82 billion, were traded by investors in 3,470 deals on Tuesday. 

During the previous trading session, investors exchanged 143.73 million shares in 4,078 deals, worth N1.77 billion. 

Top five gainers 

  • Mutual Benefit share appreciated by 10 per cent to rise from N0.30kobo to N0.33kobo per share 
  • Unilever grew by N1.10kobo, up from N11.10kobo to N12.20kobo per share 
  • C&I Leasing ended trading with N3.46kobo from N3.15kobo per share, rising by N0.31kobo. 
  • Associated Bus Transport gained 9.68 per cent to end trading at N0.34kobo, having opened with N0.31kobo per share. 
  • International Energy Insurance stock was up by 8.16 per cent, closing with N0.53kobo from N0.49kobo per share 

Top five losers 

  • Nigerian Breweries depreciated by N4.60kobo, dwindling from N46.45kobo to N41.85kobo per share. 
  • Caverton also fell by N0.10kobo to end trading at N0.95kobo, after opening with N1.05 per share. 
  • Champion Brew followed the same path, losing N0.40kobo after trading hours, to sell at N4.60kobo from N5 per share.   
  • Wapic reported a decline of 6.67 per cent from the previous day’s share price of N0.45kobo to end trading at N0.42kobo per share.  
  • NGX Group share depreciated to N25.40kobo from N27, after losing N1.60kobo during trading hours. 

Top five trading equities in stock exchange 

  • Geregu reported 23.84 million shares valued at N3.19 billion were traded on its floor   
  • Access Corp recorded 17.29 million shares valued at N155.78 million  
  • Transcorp saw investors trade 16.64 million of its shares valued at N20.07 million 
  • Chams recorded 15.27 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N4.28 million  
  • UBA reported 12.68 million shares valued at N105.11 million exchanged investors’ hands
