Nigerian Bourse Halts Losses As Investors Gain N3.22 billion After Five Hours Of Trading

On Tuesday, the Nigerian stock market capitalisation gained N3.22 billion, rising to N26.67 trillion, from N26.66 trillion.

This comes as the All-Share Index grew to 49,445.31 from 49,440.21 ASI, after gaining 5.1 basis points. 

On the exchange floor, over 147.58 million shares, valued at N2.39 billion, were traded in 3,323 deals on Tuesday. 

It surpassed the 67.36 million shares traded in 3,386 deals, worth N1.48 billion, on Monday.

Top five gainers 

  • RT Briscoe share appreciated by 10 percent to rise from N0.30kobo to N0.33kobo per.
  • First Bank of Nigeria stock grew N0.50kobo, up from N10 to N10.50kobo per share.
  • Linkage Assurance ended trading with N0.48kobo from N0.46kobo per share, rising by 4.35 percent.
  • Regal Insurance gained 4 percent to end trading at N0.26kobo, having opened with N0.25kobo.
  • Mutual Benefit stock was up by 3.70 percent, closing with N0.28kobo from N0.27kobo per share.

Top five losers in Nigerian Stock Market

  • Total depreciated by N23.40kobo, dwindling from N234.50kobo to N211.10kobo per share.
  • Learn Africa also fell by N0.20kobo to end trading at N1.86kobo, after opening with N2.06 per share.
  • Honeywell Flour followed the same path, losing N0.20kobo after trading hours, to sell at N2.26kobo from N2.46kobo per share.
  • Cutix reported a decline of N0.15kobo from previous day’s share price of N2.15kobo to end trading at N2 per share.
  • NPF Microfinance share depreciated to N1.55kobo from N1.66kobo, after losing N1.66kobo during trading hours.

Top five trading equities in Nigerian stock exchange

  • GTCO reported 35.81 million shares valued at N693.69 million were traded on its floor.
  • CAP Hotel recorded 21.56 million shares valued at N73.54 million.
  • First Bank saw investors trade 20.90 million of its shares valued at N208.91 million.
  • Zenith Bank recorded 11.09 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N219.14 million.
  • Chams reported 7.87 million shares valued at N2.35 million exchanged investors’ hands.
