Nigeria Exports Promotion Council Tasks New Exporters On Potentials In Service Sector

 

The need for Nigerian exporters to take advantage of the emerging market in the service sector was highlighted on Wednesday at a training programme organised by the Nigeria Exports Promotion Council (NEPC) in Lagos reports Prime Business Africa.

Titled ‘Training Programme for Connecting Service Providers in Service Sector to The Export Market’ with the theme Export potential of services and strategy for effective penetration of African market, the programme brought together exporters, bankers, transport and maritime experts.

In his keynote address, Regional director of the Nigeria Exports Promotion Council, Samuel Oyeyepo decried the growing influx of foreigners in the exports space in Nigeria at the expense of export companies owned by Nigerians.

“Foreigners take advantage of Nigeria’s population and take advantage of our market.

“They flood our markets so we have to take steps and measures to improve the service sector of the Export industry in Nigeria,” Oyeyepo stressed.

Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the NEPC, Ezra Yakusak who was represented by Isa AG Shauaibu assured entrants into the sector that service providers will have an in depth knowledge of how to penetrate the African and international markets as exports play an important role in global economy.

Seasoned exporter and logistics guru, Kolawale Aweh was the facilitator and trainer of the programme and exhaustively took the participants on a journey on how to make headway in service sector as an exporter.

Aweh listed cross border trade, consumption abroad, commercial presence and presence of natural persons as the key areas that make up service sectors in Export business.

Izuchukwu Okosi

Izuchukwu Okosi is a Nigerian sports and entertainment journalist with two decades of experience in the media industry having begun his media journey in 2002 as an intern at Mundial Sports International (MSI) and Africa Independent Television (AIT), owners of Daar Communications Plc. Okosi is a member of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Association of Movie Producers (AMP), Association of Voiceover Artistes of Nigeria (AVOA), Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) and Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ). He has been part of cast in some Nollywood movies and radio dramas including Blood Money 2, Scores To Settle, Dead End 2, Another Campus Tale and Battle Line. Aside mainstream media and the entertainment industry, he has interests in scouting/unearthing of talents in the sports and creative sectors, exports business and property development.
