NGX Records Sluggish Growth As Market Cap Rises By N9.12bn

Bulls Charge Ahead As NGX Shatters Records As Market Cap Surpasses N50trn

Trading was sluggish in the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) on Monday, February 2, as the all-share index (ASI) expanded slightly by 14.23 basis points.

The ASI closed at 165,384.63 index, up from the 165,370.4 ASI reported on Friday, January 30.

Consequently, the market capitalisation of the NGX increased by N9.12 billion, from N106.15 trillion to N106.16 trillion during the reviewed period.

Traders exchanged 762.75 million shares in 55,374 deals, worth N18.40 billion, surpassing the 687.38 million shares traded on Friday in 41,553 deals valued at N14.98 billion.

Top five gainers

  • FGSUK2032S5’s share price increased by N57.40 kobo to rise from N92.59 kobo to N149.99 kobo per share.
  • FGSUK2033S6’s share value grew by N27.99 kobo, from N102 to N129.99 kobo per share.
  • Premium Paints ended trading at N11 per share, from N10 per share – indicating an increase of N1.
  • LOTUSHAL15 gained N13.31 kobo to end trading at N146.41 kobo, having opened with N133.10 kobo.
  • Universal Insurance’s share value was up by N0.12 kobo, after closing at N1.32 kobo from N1.20 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • Omatek’s share price depreciated by N0.30 kobo, dwindling from N3 to N2.70 kobo per share.
  • UHOM REIT recorded a N9.45 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N85.40 kobo after opening with N94.85 kobo per share.
  • Mansard lost N1.58 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N14.31 kobo from N15.89 kobo per share.
  • Deap Capital recorded a N0.93 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N8.46 kobo after opening with N9.39 kobo per share.
  • C&I Leasing reported a decline of N0.75 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N7.65 kobo to end trading at N6.90 kobo per share.

Top five trading equities

  • Tantalizer reported that 88.48 million shares valued at N329.38 million were traded on its floor.
  • Zenith Bank recorded 40.18 million shares valued at N2.87 billion.
  • Veritas Kapital saw investors trade 39.21 million of its shares valued at N92.10 million.
  • Universal Insurance recorded 29.29 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N38.07 million.
  • First HoldCo reported that traders exchanged 27.63 million shares valued at N1.13 billion.
