NGX Market Capitalisation Gains N404.58bn After Rising To N72.30bn

The equity market closed in positive territory for the second time this week as stocks rose by 0.04%. Investors traded N15.07bn worth of shares.

The market capitalisation of the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) increased to N72.30 trillion on Wednesday, June 11, from N71.89 trillion on Tuesday, June 10, indicating a gain of N404.58 billion.

This was driven by a 0.56 percent appreciation in the all-share index (ASI), which expanded by 641.63 basis points to close at 114,659.11 ASI, up from 114,017.48 ASI.

The volume of shares traded decreased to 471.15 million on Wednesday, as investors exchanged N14,18 billion for the shares in 20,538 deals, compared to Tuesday’s 652.63 million shares, traded in 23,978 deals, worth N18.87 billion.

Top five gainers

  • Associated Bus Company’s share price increased by N0.24 kobo to rise from N2.40 kobo to N2.64 kobo per share.
  • Beta Glass’ share value grew by N21, from N210.10 kobo to N231.10 kobo per share.
  • Berger Paint ended trading at N24.80 kobo per share, from N22.55 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N2.25 kobo.
  • Fidson gained N3.15 kobo to end trading at N34.95 kobo, having opened with N31.80 kobo.
  • Legend Internet’s share value was up by N0.58 kobo, after closing at N6.45 kobo from N5.87 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • Abbey Mortgage Bank’s share price depreciated by N0.45 kobo, dwindling from N6 to N5.55 kobo per share.
  • NCR recorded a N0.42 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N5.50 kobo after opening with N5.92 kobo per share.
  • Vitafoam lost N4.30 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N60.50 kobo from N64.80 kobo per share.
  • Daar Communications reported a decline of 6.06 percent from the previous day’s share price of N0.66 kobo to end trading at N0.62 kobo per share.
  • Nestle recorded a N90.50 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N1500 after opening with N1590.50 kobo per share.

  • FCMB reported that 40.28 million shares valued at N410.14 million were traded on its floor.
  • UBA recorded 49.33 million shares valued at N1.30 billion.
  • Access Holdings saw investors trade 35.05 million of its shares valued at N788.95 million.
  • Zenith Bank recorded 28.66 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N1.43 billion.
  • Japaul Gold reported 25.36 million shares valued at N50.13 million exchanged in investors’ hands.
