Neimeth, BUA Cement, Others Add N458.41bn To Nigerian Stock Market Cap

Over N458.41 billion was added to the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) market capitalisation on Tuesday, August 5, as it moved to N91.60 trillion from N91.14 trillion reported on Monday, August 4.

NGX added that the all-share index (ASI) appreciated from 144,071.78 ASI to 144,796.37 ASI, representing a growth of 724.59 basis points.

Equity traders exchanged 1,02 billion shares in 38,932 deals, valued at N22,83 billion, exceeding the 811.09 million shares, valued at N19.47 billion, traded in 35,963 deals on Monday.

Top five gainers

  • Neimeth’s share price increased by N0.70 kobo, to rise from N7 to N7.70 kobo per share.
  • AIICO’s share value grew by N0.24 kobo, from N2.40 kobo to N2.64 kobo per share.
  • Enamelwa ended trading at N29.70 kobo per share, from N27 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N2.70 kobo.
  • BUA Cement gained N15.50 kobo to end trading at N170.50 kobo, having opened with N155.
  • Mutual Benefit’s share value was up by N0.20 kobo, after closing at N2.20 kobo from N2 per share.

Top five losers

  • LivingTrust’s share price depreciated by N0.65 kobo, dwindling from N6.59 kobo to N5.94 kobo per share.
  • UPDC REIT recorded a N0.90 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N8.45 kobo after opening with N9.35 kobo per share.
  • Academy lost N0.95 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N8.95 kobo from N9.90 kobo per share.
  • Mecure reported a decline of N1.60 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N17.40 kobo to end trading at N15.80 kobo per share.
  • Cadbury recorded a N5 decline in its share price to end trading at N63 after opening with N68 per share.

  • AIICO reported that 97.10 million shares valued at N255.28 million were traded on its floor.
  • Universal Insurance recorded 87.25 million shares valued at N71.01 million.
  • Linkage Assurance saw investors trade 64.03 million of its shares valued at N101.33 million.
  • Fidelity Bank recorded 59.21 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N1.24 billion.
  • Veritas Kapital reported 50.17 million shares valued at N83.16 million were exchanged by investors.
