Prime Business Africa reports that an Abuja-bound United Nigeria Airlines flight on Sunday diverted and landed at Asaba airport.

The incident which went viral on Sunday, left the passengers worried. One of the passengers on the flight said that after departing Lagos they only realised what was happening after the cabin crew announced “welcome to Abuja when they landed in Asaba.

We departed Lagos about an hour ago on @flyunitedng to Abuja, and upon arrival, the cabin crew confidently announced that we’ve arrived Abuja, only for us to realize that we landed in Asaba. Apparently, our pilot was given wrong flight plan from Lagos,” a passenger wrote on Twitter on Sunday.

Some reports on social media claimed the airline’s pilot was given a wrong flight plan.

However, the airline blamed the diversion on bad weather.
