National Hospital Gives Update On Zack Orji's Medical Treatment

Contrary to recent reports suggesting that veteran Nollywood actor Zack Orji was referred to a private facility for further treatment, the National Hospital in Abuja has clarified that the actor was taken away against the medical advice of the hospital management.

Prof. Muhammad Mahmud, the Chief Medical Director of the National Hospital, emphasized that the family of Zack Orji decided to move him from the hospital, despite the medical advice provided by the hospital.

The actor had been rushed to the intensive care unit due to deteriorating health, and there were initial indications of improvement in his condition. First Lady Oluremi Tinubu visited him on New Year’s Day during his stay at the hospital.

While earlier reports suggested Orji was being transferred for brain surgery to a private hospital, the hospital’s spokesman, Tayo Hastrup, clarified the situation in a statement.

According to the statement, the family, even as preparations were underway for surgery after stabilization, signed a form indicating their decision to take him away. This decision, labeled “Leaving Against Medical Advice,” disrupted the scheduled surgical procedure.

The National Hospital expressed its commitment to the well-being of patients and wished Zack Orji a swift recovery. The actor had initially been admitted to the intensive care unit, later moved to the ENT ward, and was being prepared for surgery in the orthopedic ward before the family intervened.
