Mutfwang Pushes ₦914.8bn 2026 Budget to Drive Plateau’s Stability, Development Agenda

November 13, 2025

Governor Caleb Mutfwang on Wednesday presented a ₦914.8 billion budget for the 2026 fiscal year to the Plateau State House of Assembly, calling on lawmakers to support his administration’s agenda of deepening peace, security, and inclusive development across the state.

The budget, titled “Budget of Consolidation and Sustainability 2.0,” is anchored on three strategic pillars: Peace, Security and Good Governance; Sustainable Economic Rebirth; and Physical Infrastructure Development. Priority sectors include agriculture, mining, transport, ICT, housing, health, and youth empowerment.

Governor Mutfwang emphasised the need for bipartisan support, stating, “Let us work together so that the peace we seek is not just a slogan but a lived reality across Plateau State.” He urged the Assembly to expedite the passage of the Appropriation Bill to ensure timely implementation of critical projects.

The proposed 2026 budget marks a significant increase from the 2025 estimate, reflecting the administration’s ambitious plans to expand development programs while addressing persistent security challenges in the state.
