Again, Multichoice Increases Subscription Fees For All DSTv, GOTv Packages

The astronomical increase in the prices of goods and services in the country which Nigerians have been battling with in these austere times has berthed in subscription television with MultiChoice Nigeria announcing an upward review of bouquet prices on its DStv and GOtv packages.

Prime Business Africa gathered from text messages sent to customers and notifications popping up on the TV screen of users that the new rates take effect on the 6th of November, 2023, although those who renew their subscription before the date have the grace of paying the old rates.

According to the pay-tv firm, the price adjustment was due to the rising costs of doing business in the country.

“Please note that from November 6, your monthly subscription (DSTV Premium) will be N29,500,” an SMS seen by our correspondent read on Thursday.

With the hike, the price of the Compact+ bouquet has been jacked up to N19,000 from the current N16,600 per month.

Subscribers on the Compact bouquet will now pay N12,500 as against N10,500; while those on Confam package will pay N7,400 compared to the N6,200 they hitherto paid.

Similarly, viewers on the DStv Yanga bouquet will pay N4,200 as against N3,500.

Meanwhile, subscribers on the GOtv Supa package will now pay N7,600 as against N6,400; with those on GOtv Max expected to pay N5,700 as against N4,850.

Also, the GOtv Jolli package price has been raised to N3,950 from N3,300; while that of the GOtv Jinja will as from the 6th of November go for N2,250 as against N2,700.

It would be recalled that the South African company had six months ago hiked subscription prices by at least 17 per cent across the board. It explained then in an internal memo that the increase was “due to the various economic challenges impacting our business operations,” adding at the time that the prices for MultiChoice Nigeria’s DStv and GOtv packages will be effective from the 1st of May, 2023.
