Mr Eazi Announces New Group, Choplife Soundsystem

Mr Eazi, the Nigerian-born music superstar, has launched a new pan-African music group called Choplife Soundsystem. The group consists of UK-based, Kenyan-born afrobeats selector and tastemaker DJ Edu as the resident DJ, with Mr Eazi serving as the primary vocalist and MC at live events.

The group will also have an informal crew of DJs, artists and producers from across the continent contributing to their recordings and live shows.

Choplife Soundsystem is inspired by the popular West African pidgin slang phrase “chop life”, meaning “enjoy life”, and the traditional soundsystems that are the backbone of Jamaican music culture.

The group aims to put a modern African twist on soundsystem culture by incorporating genres like amapiano and afrobeats to curate the ultimate African party experience.

Mr Eazi “soft launched” Choplife Soundsystem with events in Cotonou, Benin; Stockholm, Sweden; and Kigali, Rwanda, in 2022, inspired by his successful Ghana holiday party Detty Rave.

The artist plans to announce further details about the group, including new music releases, partnerships and live events, later this Spring.

Choplife Soundsystem is a merging of music, community and live events, and Mr Eazi hopes to bring the vibe and spirit of his successful parties to audiences across Africa and beyond. The artist says he is excited about this new and fun ride and can’t wait for all the music to start dropping and the accompanying live experience.

With this new project, Mr Eazi is not only bringing the sounds of Africa to the world but is also building a community around music, and that is something to be celebrated. Choplife Soundsystem promises to be a unique and exciting addition to the global music scene.
