Mohbad’s Autopsy Results To Be Released In Three Weeks

The highly anticipated autopsy report on the demise of the late afrobeat artist, Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, is scheduled to be released within the next three to four weeks.

Dr. Richard Somiari, the Director of the Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre, disclosed this while providing testimony during a coroner’s inquest into the circumstances surrounding the singer’s untimely death.

Amidst a rigorous cross-examination by defense counsel in the inquest, Somiari affirmed the timeline for the release of the autopsy findings.

Prime Business Africa reports , Mohbad tragically passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27, triggering widespread controversies nationally and internationally. Responding to public demand for clarity, the Lagos State Government promptly initiated a coroner’s inquest to unravel the mystery behind his demise.

Commencing on October 13, 2023, the inquest proceedings  were conducted at the Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court under the purview of Coroner Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi.

Addressing the Coroner, Somiari said, “We anticipate receiving the initial autopsy results within three to four weeks, allowing for confirmation and authentication of the cause of death.”

He also spoke on the meticulous process undertaken to explore various potential causes, including the possibility of poisoning, in the absence of a definitive cause.

In assuring the public of the integrity and security of the autopsy samples, Somiari affirmed, “We have established stringent protocols for the safe storage and monitoring of samples, including procedures for their transport abroad.”
