Moffi’s Goal Wins UEFA Conference League Award, Chukwueze’s Strike In Fourth Place

Nigeria striker Terem Moffi has been handed the prestigious UEFA Europa Conference League Goal of the Season for his remarkable acrobatic goal for OGC Nice, reports Prime Business Africa.

The spectacular goal was scored by the striker in the thrilling 2-2 draw against Swiss side Basel.

Moffi’s goal was selected by the UEFA Technical Observer Panel from a list of 10 outstanding goals which also have another fantastic strike by a Nigerian – Samuel Chukwueze – in the Top 10.

Curiously, Moffi was not named in Nigeria’s 23-man squad for Sunday’s crucial 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone to be played in Monrovia.

Chukwueze who was adjudged the Best African Player of the 2022/2023 season in the Spanish La LigaSuper Eagles Star Chukwueze Wins African Best Player Gong In Spain came fourth in ranking following his volloyed strike against Bulgarian club Lech Poznań in a thrilling 4-3 win by his Villarreal.

Italian striker Ciro Immobile was rewarded for his powerful goal in Lazio’s winning goal against Cluj in February 2023.

Andy Diouf, the recipient of the Young Player of the Season award, secured third place with his strike against Žalgiris on matchday five of the competition. Interestingly, the Basel youngster claimed two positions in the top ten rankings.

West Ham United emerged victorious in the UEFA Europa Conference League, clinching a 2-1 win against Fiorentina in the final match, their first cup title in over 43 years.
