Marcus Rashford scored a brace while debutant Antony got the other as Manchester United defeated a spirited Arsenal side 3-1 at Old Trafford to end the five-match unbeaten run of the Gunners.

Gabriel Martinelli scored a disallowed goal as the VAR deemed Martin Odegaard to have fouled Christian Eriksen in the buildup.

Antony opened the account for the Red Devils but Bukayo Saka on the eve of his 21st birthday restored parity for Arsenal.

United regained their lead in the 66th minute when Bruno Fernandes found Rashford with a through-ball and the England striker beat the advancing Aaron Ramsdale for his first goal against Arsenal since his debut goal against same opponents in February 2016.

The Gunners fell prey to a blistering counter that led to United’s Christian Erkisen breaking clear and slipping the ball across to Rashford for the back breaking goal.

Arsenal’s next Premier League game is against Everton after their Europa League commitment on Thursday against PSV Eindhoven.
