Man United Set To Appoint Ralf Rangnick As Interim Manager

November 25, 2021
BELEAGUERED Manchester United are set to appoint German tactician Ralf Rangnick as their new interim boss displacing Michael Carrick until the end of the 2021/2022 Premier League campaign but it has now been revealed that the German rejected a similar role with Chelsea earlier this year according to the English press.
Potential new Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick who was a success at RB Leipzig rejected the opportunity to replace Frank Lampard at Chelsea earlier this year.
United are poised to appoint the experienced German coach on a contract until the end of the current campaign with the option of a further two-year consultancy role at the club that fired legendary player cum manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for a spell of bad results on Sunday.
The Red Devils suffered the ignominy of a 4-1 thrashing against promoted Watford.
The Blues sacked Lampard in January with the club languishing in ninth place in the Premier League and would go on to appoint firmer PSG boss Thomas Tuchel on a permanent basis.
Prior to the confirmation of Tuchel’s appointment, the West London club held talks with Rangnick over the possibility of him taking charge on an interim basis until the end of the campaign.
Rangnick has revealed that he rejected the approach as such a move would make him a ‘lame duck’ at the club, but he has appeared to have a change of heart with recent talks with United.
‘I said: ‘I would like to come and work with you, but I can’t do it for four months.
Michael Carrick who reportedly had a training ground spat with Paul Pogba within days of being in temporary charge at Old Trafford is set to once again be at the helm for United’s trip to Chelsea on Sunday due to Rangnick’s work permit being unlikely to be processed in time for the trip to Stamford Bridge.
