United’s first choice striker in the absence of Ronaldo is Anthony Martial going by his impressive pre season form but the Frenchman has copped a hamstring injury in training ahead of the opening weekend’s matches.

Ronaldo has been adamant that he wants to leave Old Trafford this season despite still having one year left on his contract.

The Portuguese’s grouse is the lack of UEFA Champions League football that the team have not qualified for this season.

Ronaldo has had a competitive career with PSG’s Lionel Messi with whom he has always been considered the greatest footballers of this generation.

Paris Saint-Germain will campaign in the UEFA Champions League while United will settle for the UEFA Europa League after they finished in 6th place behind Arsenal last season.

There is also a call by the management of the team to the players to accept a pay it which does not sit well with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Ronaldo left the stadium at half time on Sunday when the Red Devils played Rayo Valecanno in a pre season friendy which Eric ten Hag condemned in an interview with a Dutch television station.
