Today marks the inauguration day as former Lagos State Governor Bola Tinubu assumes the role of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, concluding the eight-year administration of Muhammadu Buhari.
At the age of 71, Tinubu officially takes office after emerging as the victor in the closely contested presidential election held on February 25. With a total of 8,794,726 votes, Tinubu, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), surpassed his closest contender Atiku Abubakar from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who secured 6,984,520 votes. The Labour Party (LP) candidate Peter Obi, aged 61, finished in third place with 6,101,533 ballots.
