Light Bearers Community (LBC) at the University of Nigeria Nsukka has held its first digital marketing-tech conference, tagged ‘Earn Conference 24,’ where student entrepreneurs gathered to share creative ideas.
With the theme “Building a Sustainable Brand as a Student,” the conference aimed to connect students with tech marketers, developers, and business entrepreneurs.

Miss. Tekevwe Macaulay, founder of LBC, emphasised the importance of building a personal brand and leveraging technology for income generation.
She noted that LBC’s aim is geared towards bringing business owners together for the purpose of networking and learning new business ideas and skills, as well as holding each other accountable. She disclosed that when she first conceived the idea of creating a community like this, she was in her first year in the university, but then She had no courage to do it until now she is in her finals.

Miss. Macaulay also spoke on building a sustainable income using technology.
“There is technology behind every sustainable income. You have to use it to earn money. This is a campus environment, you spend a lot.
“I’m going to establish a level ground. The state of your mind determines the level of results you will ever produce. If you don’t position your mind well, you can’t achieve anything. Your achievement starts from your mind.
“The value you propose and deliver determines your better chances of getting a higher income. The person who wants to earn a hundred thousand and the person who wants a million will never work at the same pace,” she explained.
One of the guest speakers, Mr. Victor Agbo, a creative designer and LinkedIn influencer, stressed the importance of building a personal brand and online presence.
“Brand is all about creating a perception of you. As a student, you need a brand, it is inevitable in business. There are two types of brand; personal brand and corporate brand. As a person, I started building my brand in my second year. I’m now in 400 level, studying computer and electrical engineering,” Mr. Agbo said.
Social Media Platforms To Build Brands
Agbo outlined some social media platforms where one can build a brand.
“If you are a graphic designer, Instagram is a place for you to build your brand and If you are networking, LinkedIn is the platform for you. If you are a web developer, X (formerly known as Twitter) is the platform for that. As a content creator, YouTube is the best platform for that.”
Mr. Prince Peter, founder of DeepReview TV, spoke about web3 trading and its benefits. He argued that web3 is the best and only decentralized world wide web one can trade without restrictions from any individual or government. However, he disclosed that trading on web3 required a strong knowledge of the web and the site and apps that are in operation there.
“Web three is also known as a decentralized web. It’s an emerging internet era that leverages blockchain technology, crypto currencies and decentralized networking to create a more secure, transparent and democratic online ecosystem. Three secrets you need to be successful in web3 trading are built on 3Ws, they are, ‘What you know’, ‘Who you know’, and ‘What you are,” he noted.

The conference featured two panel sessions with business owners and experts sharing insights on building sustainable businesses.
The first panelists were Miss Ngozi Arazu, the CEO, Niras Cakes and Pastries; Mr Jerry Fabian, a digital creator; and Mr Precision Udeze, Visual designer and web3 enthusiast.
The second panelists were Miss Evoh Precious, CEO, Pace Designer; Mr. Kamtochukwu Obichili, founder The (Tech event hub); and Mr Izuchukwu Asombia, machine learning engineer.
The event aimed to empower students with digital skills and knowledge to succeed in their chosen careers.
