It said the power interruption is expected to take place daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, beginning from Monday, 28 July 2025, to Thursday, 21 August 2025.

The utility firm said the scheduled maintenance work will be carried out on the Omotosho–Ikeja West 330kV transmission line.

“Please be informed that Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) will carry out scheduled maintenance on the Omotosho–Ikeja West 330kV transmission line from Monday, July 28 to Thursday, August 21, 2025.”
“During this period, customers may experience intermittent power supply and load shedding across our network due to the planned TCN outage,” the statement read.

The notice comes amid demand by customers for better power supply in Lagos. Some lamented about months of poor supply in their areas.

“We have not had light for four good days now around the Aruna/powerline axis of Ikorodu Road. No news or any official update about any attempt to restore the light. I think you guys can just try to have a little bit of humanity and see Nigerians as humans,” an X user stated.

Band A customers called for a review of their tariff at a time when the power firm is unable to supply electricity for the stipulated number of hours on a daily basis.

“The affected band A during this period should either be compensated or downgraded to B. You can’t expect customers to still pay the same rate. Kindly revert to the management, in a sane, lawful country, that’s what would be done,” another X user, Jerryzee, stated.

“Move customers to band B or C during the period. If u can’t meet the obligation of giving us consistent power during the period, what is our compensation? u either give us stable power & charge us for Band A or downgrade us to Band B or C as the case may be,” Adejumo Olatunde stated.

Similarly, Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has announced a planned power outage by TCN across its coverage area for approximately 24 days.

This disclosure was made in a public notice issued by EKEDC to its customers on Friday, which stated that the outage would occur between Monday, July 28, and Thursday, August 21, 2025.
The company explained that the disruption is required to allow TCN to perform critical maintenance on the Omotosho – Ikeja West 330kV power line.

The repair activity is expected to cause intermittent power outages and load shedding across EKEDC’s distribution network, which serves key areas of Lagos.
The power distribution company stated that this exercise will result in intermittent outages and load shedding across its network.
